Knowledge and understanding of Scripture is very important at Abiding Word. We strive to follow the encouragement of the apostle Paul when he writes, “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16).

Meet our Teachers

Adults

Roy_OhrHello! My name is Roy Ohr and I teach an adult Bible Class. I am married, have three grown sons and two grandsons and am retired from the Provident Bank of Cincinnati. I believe it is most important for Christian growth to spend your life studying God's inerrant Word, the Bible. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach God's Word to the parents of the Sunday School students.

Pre-teens

Jim_InnigerHi! My name is Jim Inniger. I am currently the Preteen Sunday school teacher for 7th and 8th grades at Abiding Word Lutheran Church. I have enjoyed the opportunity to share God’s Word with the Pre-teens at our church. Growing up my Sunday school lessons and church attendance had a big impact on me and shaped my beliefs and morals and I hope to help lay the same foundation for the children of Abiding Word. The message of sins forgiven is the most important thing in my life, and I hope to share this message with the students every Sunday.

I grew up on a farm in northwest Ohio near the small town of Jenera. I was the second of five children who were blessed to have God-fearing parents. My mother still lives on our farm in northwest Ohio and attends Trinity Lutheran Church in Jenera. I graduated from Otterbein College in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. I have been employed by the Campbell Soup Company for the past 32 years and currently have the position of Senior Customer Business Manager in sales.

I was a Sunday school teacher at Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Powell, Ohio for 12 years. For the past 8 years I have been in the Cincinnati area attending Abiding Word. It has been a joy to again teach the pre-teen age and hopefully with God’s guidance able to help shape the lives of our children.

Bill_GorderHello, my name is Bill Gorder and I am one of the teachers for the 7th and 8th grade class. This is a great opportunity for me personally to grow in faith and I pray that my students will grow in faith with me as I teach them God’s Word.

I am originally from Rochester, MN. I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2005. I have a degree in Computer Engineering.

In college I tutored, but this is my first opportunity to teach this age group about the Bible. Through our study of the Scripture, I pray that the Holy Spirit will inspire my students to grow in their appreciation for God’s Word.

Upper Grades

Deanna_LeibHello! My name is Deanna Leib and I am the Sunday school teacher for the 5-6 grades at Abiding Word Lutheran Church. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity to spread God’s word.

I was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio and am the youngest of three children. In 2004, I graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in History. I am currently an Accounts Payable Specialist at Lerner, Sampson and Rothfuss in Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio and have worked there for about four years. This is my second year serving as a Sunday school teacher at Abiding Word and I look forward to serving in the future.

Norm_WrightHello all! I'm Norm Wright, the new 5th & 6th grade Sunday School teacher here at Abiding Word Lutheran Church. I'm not new to the church, I'm just new to the teaching staff. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to convey the Scriptural truths to my first Sunday School class. Like it says in James 1:22 – Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says!

Although my formal education was completed a few decades ago, I graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering with an Associates Degree in Electronic Communications Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Management. When we moved here in 1987 due to a job transfer, we were one of the few families that were part of the small congregation which met at the Kinder Care in Loveland.

Within the course of my working career, I've had the opportunity to teach and train others – which I enjoy. Likewise, here at church, I've held the position of Pioneer Trainmaster for a few years and now I look forward to leading this group of young adults as well.

I grew up in Maineville, Ohio. I am the youngest of three. Currently, I am a manger for United Dairy Farmers (UDF). I’ve been a student of God’s Word my whole life, and now am privileged to teach the next generation about the Savior. I hope to teach the children in such a way that they remain excited about their Savior Jesus and eager to learn about him.
