Abiding Word offers a safe, Christian environment for teens to strengthen their faith, build good Christian character, and form life long friendships.

  • We believe it is essential that we provide our teens with the Word of God. Bible study will help our teens take their faith deeper, so they can see how the Bible speaks to their needs.
  • Our hope is that we can create a place within the Church where teens can grow in their relationship to Jesus, and grow closer as a Christian family.
  • All teens are invited to join us every Sunday morning at 11 am.
  • All our teens are invited to fellowship and service outings, planned once a month by our teen teachers, Nathan and James

Meet Our Teachers

James_Pierson

Hi, my name is James Pierson. I am one of the teen teachers here at Abiding Word Lutheran Church. I have been honored and challenged to teach and share God’s Word with the teens.

It is great to see firsthand how God’s grace and his message of forgiveness of sins apply to the students at what can be a difficult time in their lives. My hope is for the teens to carry this message of law and gospel into their adult lives.

My wife and I have been members of Abiding Word Lutheran Church since 2007. We moved to Lebanon, Ohio because of a career change. I have a background in graphic design from the University of Akron and I am currently self-employed.

I am now in my second year of teaching the teen class and it is my prayer for the teens to go through the challenges of high school and college knowing God’s truth about forgiveness and grace, to rely on their Savior and not themselves to help them through the tough times.

Nathan_Jessie

Hi, my name is Nathan Jessie and I share the duties of Teen Bible Class teacher. It is a blessing to be able to teach the teenage youth about God’s great mercy as well as his commands as they start their journey into their adult lives.

God’s grace and guidance provides ultimate comfort and joy, and I look forward to sharing that with my students every Sunday. My hope is that the teens carry the message of forgiveness with them throughout their life.

I grew up on a family farm in Sparta WI, with my parents and one younger brother and one older sister. In 2007 I graduated from Winona State University with a degree in Composite Materials Engineering, and I moved to Cincinnati in the summer of 2007.

I have been a WELS member all of my life and I attended a WELS Elementary school from grades 1-8. I have always enjoyed hearing and learning about how Jesus paid for our sins, and I am now thankful that I have the opportunity to teach these precious truths to the youth at Abiding Word. May God watch over us, bless us, and grant us a wonderful year!
